50% of the wine is matured in French oak barrels, 25% new barrels and 75% barrels aged 1 to 2 years, for six months before bottling.
Escudo Rojo Chardonnay is made entirely from the same grape variety even though the requirement under Chilean law is only 75%. The very intense, fruit-forward nose reveals aromas of citrus fruit mingled with pear compote, rose petal and lemon verbena, accompanied by notes of lightly toasted nuts and hints of marzipan from time spent in oak.
