2022 VINTAGE
The 2022 harvest is a harvest that presented very favorable conditions to achieve a good ripeness of the bunches.
It was a harvest started with a very cool spring, but then the temperature rise slowly, which was very beneficial to generate a slow maturity, high aromatic intensity, high level of concentration and very good phenolic maturity.
This vintage, with great potential, achieves a perfect expression of the Chilean terroir, the identity of the varieties with good typicity in its aromas, with a mixture of aromas of red and black fruits, with a fine and elegant palate, with a high level of concentration, and with good acidity and freshness.
2022, a vintage with a great balance between power and elegance, with a presence of great structure, soft tannins and very good aging potential.
MATURING
The wine is matured in 25% new and 75% 1-2-year-old barrels for 12 months.
GRAPE VARIETY
Escudo Rojo Gran Reserva is a blended wine made from five different grape varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon (44%) and Cabernet Franc (6%), traditional Bordeaux varieties, give refinement and tannic power, while Carmenere (43%), Syrah (3%) and Petit Verdot (4%) bring body, density and a touch of spice.
TASTING NOTES
Powerful & generous - Black fruits - Cocoa & coffee
Aspect
Bright ruby red with a violet hue.
Nose
The intense and fruit-forward nose reveals aromas of blueberry, cranberry, pomegranate and blackberry together with delicate touches of nuts as well as herbs and spice (bay leaf, thyme, pink and green peppercorn), rounded off by wellintegrated, subtle and alluring hints of cedar, leather, cigar box, mocha and strawberry tart from time spent in oak barrels.
Palate
A very complex, delectable and generous wine. The smooth, well-honed mid-palate, powerful and substantial, displays a good balance between power, acidity and rich flavors, with lingering fruit notes such as pomegranate, leading into a long finish sustained by good acidity.
